Y castell hwn, y dechreuwyd ei adeiladu yn 1295, oedd yr olaf mewn rhwydwaith strategol o gadarnleoedd mawr a adeiladwyd ar draws Cymru gan y Brenin Edward I (12721307), ar ôl Caernarfon, Conwy a Harlech yn 1283. Adeiladwyd Castell Biwmares ar ôl gwrthryfel mawr gan y Cymry yn 129495, pan brofwyd amddiffynfeydd tri chastell Edward ir eithaf.
Begun in 1295, Beaumaris Castle was the last in a strategic network of great fortresses built across Wales by King Edward I (12721307) after Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech in 1283. It was built following a widespread Welsh revolt in 129495, during which time the defences of Edwards trio of castles were put to the test.
